These are our friends and neighbors on the ground in Guatemala, and their stories are truly heartbreaking as they try to provide their families with the most basic needs for survival.
But there is hope. At Worthy Village we are doing everything we can to provide vital COVID-19 response services to the communities we have been working with since 2014. Our team adapted to the changing realities on the ground with unprecedented speed, navigating intense social distancing guidelines to provide rapid and targeted relief. Right now, we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to the communities we hold so dear. We have temporarily added hundreds of families who were on the brink of starvation to our support programs, providing them with monthly supplies of food, hygiene supplies, and medicine, as well as educational COVID-19 resources to reduce the spread. But we cannot stop here. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.
I am reaching out because Worthy Village has made a commitment to these communities, and right now, with the current climate of the U.S. and world economies, we have seen a tremendous decrease in donations, as well as all volunteer trips canceled, and an inability to run our annual fundraiser gathering due to COVID-19. These are our three sources of revenue. We are fighting to continue our programs and keep our organization afloat through these unprecedented times.
We understand these times have been challenging for all of us, but the ways we have seen people come together and support one another in communities across the globe fills us with hope.
