7 Days (Saturday-Saturday) or you can do 1 day volunteer excursions

If you come for 1 week you’ll stay at the beautiful La Riviera de Atitlan Hotel & Resort, nestled along the breathtaking shores of Lake Atitlan in Panajachel, Solola, Guatemala. Surrounded by majestic volcanoes and vibrant indigenous culture, Lake Atitlan is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere, offering a truly immersive experience in one of Guatemala’s most picturesque destinations.

The 1-week volunteer donation fee for the trips is $999 (excludes airfare). Payment is non-refundable, but cancellation is allowed with re-booking for a future date.  If you join us for 1-day, the volunteer donation fee is $90/person

Your $999 donation fee covers:

• Hotel accommodation
• Transportation (including to and from the airport, during working days, and daily boat transportation to and from villages)
• Traveler’s insurance (coverage up to $2,000,000)
• Apartment food (including breakfast and lunch)
• A volunteer t-shirt
• Training on Water Filtration Systems for families
• Access to translators
• Cultural excursions

Your $90 day fee covers:
– Transportation to and from the activities
– Lunch 
– Museum entrance fees 
– A water filter for a family in need

 As a volunteer, when you volunteer for 1 week, you’ll:

• Distribute water filters
• Distribute food packages
• Conduct educational seminars
• Teach health and hygiene practices in schools
• Provide school supplies
• Visit Mayan families in their homes
• Meet artisan partners
• Participate in cultural excursions

As a 1 day volunteer you can choose from the following options.

Option 1: Teaching at a Local School

– Morning: You’ll start the day by teaching basic English at a local school. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the children and help them practice language skills in a fun and interactive way.
-Midday: During recess, you can join the kids in a game of soccer or other sports, incorporating basic English lessons as part of the play.
– Lunch: Everyone will enjoy a delicious meal at an authentic local restaurant, giving you a taste of Guatemalan cuisine and culture.

Option 2: Delivering Water Filters and Exploring Local Culture

– Morning: Accompanied by our social workers, you’ll visit 2 families in one of the villages surrounding Lake Atitlán to deliver 2 water filters. You will also teach the family how to maintain and clean the filter, which will provide them with clean drinking water and teach our hygiene handbook.
– Afternoon: After the filter delivery, you will visit a local museum or explore a traditional ceramic shop, where you can learn more about the rich cultural heritage of the region.

For 1 week volunteer trips you need to make a deposit of $500 to save your spot ahead of time. If you are doing a one day volunteer excursion please make your $90 per person payment ahead of time.

Travel Requirements

• Passport Validity: Passport must be valid at the time of entry.
• Blank Passport Pages: One page per stamp.
• Tourist Visa: A visa is not required.
• Vaccinations: None.
• Currency Restrictions for entry: There are no restrictions, but if the passenger is carrying $10,000 or more, s/he will need to justify the income and the purpose
• Currency restrictions for exit: There are no restrictions, but if the passenger is carrying $10,000 or more, s/he will need to justify the income and the purpose
